Presentation of HDSSB

HDSSB is a splinter from HDZ, led by Branimir Glavaš, once a main HDZ member in Slavonia. HDSSB split from HDZ around 2000 and formed a separate party with some influence in Slavonia and Baranja, including occasional participation in the Osijek town government. In the mean time, Glavaš has been involved in several political scandals and was accused on war crimes and wartime profit.

Flags of HDSSB

Jutarnji list, 20 March 2009, shows a nice photo of the flags in front of the main office of the party. The flag of HDSSB is red with the coat of arms of Slavonia in a semi-circular shield bordered yellow. The same flag is shown on the party website (photo) and a number of other sources. This is not the historical flag of Slavonia, but it is quite conceivable that the party uses it as "the flag of Slavonia".

Article 3 of the party Statutes (text) describe the party's emblem and flag. The flag is described as red, in proportions 1:2, with the party's emblem in the middle.
The emblem, as shown in the header of the party website, is described in many details: red letters "HDSSB" bordered golden and under them in black the full name "Hrvatski Demokratski Savez Slavonije i Baranje". Across the letters "HD" towards heraldic dexter a slanted golden corn ear. Beneath the party name in the middle are three squares set on their points, partially covering each other, from left to right: a blue sqoare with three stars symbolizing the European Union flag, a rhombus with four visible red squares in a white field symbolizing the coat of arms of Croatia, and a square divided with a wavy white line into a top red field with a golden running marten and a lower blue field towards heraldic dexter a layed golden corn ear. To the left and the right of the group of rhumbi is extending the Croatian wattle. The letters are inscribed in Helvetica script.

A third kind of a flag, using the elements from the party emblem, but now significantly more enlarged, is to be seen on photos ([1], [2]) taken in Bališće.
